Announcements / Short-term training workshops at IIRS, Dehradun

1. Introduction to Numerical Weather Prediction

The workshop is designed with a view to provide participants an understanding of the scientific concepts associated with NWP model, coupled with a practical knowledge of NWP model. The participants will also gain knowledge and ability to access, analyze, and apply satellite remote sensing data for atmospheric applications. They will also understand the advantages of using remote sensing observations for NWP.

Date: November 18 - 22, 2019

Target participants:

The workshop is designed for professionals and specialists from university, educational institutes, operational & research institutes and JRFs/SRFs/students in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Physics, Mathematics, Earth Science, Oceanography, Environmental Science and related fields. The applicants should be Post Graduate in Science/Graduate in Engineering. Selection of the participants will be done based on the criteria decided by IIRS and preference will be given to candidates working in Govt. sector/experience in teaching/research and higher qualification.

A nominal registration fee of ` 3000/- per participant for Government & research institutions, university faculty, JRFs/SRFs/students. This fee includes registration kit, working lunch, refreshment and lodging. Registration fee will be paid online after the selection of the candidates. Details of fee payment will be available at the course website. List of selected candidates will be uploaded on IIRS website www.iirs.gov.in.

The aspirant participants may fill the online form available on IIRS website https://admissions.iirs.gov.in/shortcourse latest by October 25, 2019.


2. Hyperspectral Remote Sensing and its Applications

The training cum workshop duration is of two week from December 09th to December 20th 2019. The course would delivered through lectures on above topics, by IIRS faculty, case studies, demonstrations and hands on exercises.

You need to prepare monthly LAI, albedo and other parameter for the vegetation classes present in your study area. Pls try something and post your difficulties so that people can try to address it.

The GEE implementation of LandTrendr enables users to analyze land cover dynamics, including short-term disturbances and long-term trends. Both sessions will feature a lecture, followed by time for hands-on exercises and questions.
